Frequently Asked Questions about Deep Sea Fishing
How should I dress for a day on the water?
You should dress according to what the weather brings for the day. Always plan on the temperatures being 10 degrees cooler on the water. This is usually due to the winds that are almost always present when on the ocean. Wear waterproof boots or shoes, rain weather gear, warm clothing, layers are good, sunscreen, hats and sunglasses are recommended, depending on the season.
What should I bring?
Although we have a full galley, you can bring lunch, snacks and beverages. No alcohol please as we do have a liquor license. Our vessel has a zero tolerance for alcohol and drugs. The Captain and crew reserve the right to search all coolers or bags brought onboard.
What do I need for tackle?
This year, the Lady Sea is equipped with new fishing roads. All fishing trips include your rod, reel, bait and hooks. However, if you have a favorite rod, please feel free to bring your own. Sinkers can be rented at $2.00 a piece. If you return the sinker you are refunded $1.00. We carry all terminal tackle aboard the boat that is necessary, from sinkers and jigs to hooks and teasers.
Seasickness:
If you have a tendency to motion sickness, Dramamine or Bonine is recommended and should be taken at least one hour prior to departure. For best results, start taking the evening before.
How far out will be going on any give trip?
Here is a general distance to fishing ground according to what type of trip you are going out on:
All Day Cod Fishing: 15 – 25 miles from the mouth of Gloucester Harbor
Half Day Cod Fishing: 10 – 15 miles from the mouth of Gloucester Harbor
